The Derek Trucks Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour.
Are you here? Yeah? Mmmkay, all right welcome to The Paul Leslie Hour. We’ve got a real quick interview with musical great Derek Trucks, called one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. This interview from the archives goes back to 2006, and we’ve been itching to get this out into the world.
This interview was recorded on the Derek Trucks Band tour bus prior to one of their concerts at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia. Derek’s fame was just beginning to grow.
Derek Trucks began playing music as a child, and by age 11 was performing for money. Even before his 20th birthday he’d already played with Buddy Guy, Bob Dylan, Stephen Stills, Joe Walsh. He founded the Derek Trucks Band in 1994 which continued on for around 16 years. Derek Trucks officially joined the Allman Brothers Band in 1999, people were really starting to notice.
Along with Susan Tedeschi, Derek’s wife, he formed the band Tedeschi Trucks Band in 2010. What the Tedeschi Trucks Band accomplished in the studio and in live performances is beyond impressive.
Ahhhh! Oh yeah folks, the Tedeschi Trucks Band is a headlining act in the 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Yes, sir. Get your tickets now, ladies and gents – at nojazzfest.com Tedeschi Trucks Band will be performing April 30th. Be there, mmkay?
