Danny O’Keefe is a special guest on The Paul Leslie Hour.
It’s what any songwriter dreams of. To write a standard. Danny O’Keefe is the original singer and songwriter of “Good Time Charlie’s Got the Blues.” His signature song, it has gone on to be recorded by everyone from Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam, Steve Forbert and instrumentalists like Chet Atkins and Earl Klugh.
Danny O’Keefe has written a lot of songs and made some really great records. A much respected writer in music, he’s shared co-writing credits with Bob Dylan, Vince Melamed and the late Tim Krekel to name a few. Some of his other songs were recorded by Jackson Browne, Glen Campbell, Judy Collins, Jimmy Buffett, Ben Harper, John Denver and others.
In recent years, he wrote and recorded an album entitled “Looking Glass & The Dreamers,” the result of years of deep, historical research on the Nez Perce tribe. Future projects related to this topic are in the works. Danny O’Keefe is one of a kind. Not many can say they share his distinctions and unique credits. It’s a great pleasure to welcome him on The Paul Leslie Hour!
